Workshop and Performance Programs

Summer Stars is under the direction of HCT veteran Jennifer Downs, with a returning staff of theatre professionals, offering two separate five-week summer sessions. Program registration is open to any young person regardless of experience. Scholarships are available.

Morning Program - THE ART OF ACTING
5 weeks - 8am to Noon, Monday to Friday
|
This exciting in-depth program offers an intensive theatre skill-building & training opportunity. Learn theatre techniques to help you shine! Students will develop acting skills by exploring blocking, projection, characters and working with a script. Each week will focus on a different aspect of theatre, including: costume building & sewing, script analysis, character development, dance, music, lighting, directing, puppetry, make-up, stage combat & martial arts.
The morning program ends July 8th with a showcase for family & friends at Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center, with staff performances, and a silent auction gala event.
Tuition: $300 plus ticket sales

Afternoon Program- THE ART OF PERFORMING
5 weeks- 1pm to 5pm, Monday to Friday

Offers participants a theatre experience in the production of Mulan Jr., a one act musical. Travel back to the legendary, story-telling days of ancient China with this action-packed stage adaptation of Disney's Mulan. The Huns have invaded, and it is up to the misfit Mulan and her mischievous sidekick Mushu to save the Emperor! Mulan JR. is a heartwarming celebration of culture, honor and a fighting spirit. The score includes favorites like "Reflection", "Honor to Us All" and "I'll Make
a Man Out of You" as well as new songs that will have the audience up on its feet!
